Tinnitus is a performance piece depicting the pain of changing as a person, without realizing that you’ve changed. The worst part about changing is that we never notice how much we’ve changed involuntarily, until we experience something that reminds us of who we used to be. In this show, that is symbolized by tinnitus, as the constant ringing in the ears of who the character used to be, contrasted with who they have become in this performance. This concept has had so much weight on me that I’ve had no way of expressing it into just one medium and felt that it was necessary to depict this concept through a combination of my music, written dialogue, and symbolic stage props using cameras and TV screens. This show has been my biggest performance yet, and it continues to influence me as I develop this concept into other forms such as my Photosynthesis Engine project.
