TELE-VISION
Television is a concept album about someone watching television in a meaningless way but each channel is one of my feelings through a song. Representing me feeling small in a big world and how meaningless my life is, but how much pain I go through anyway. I am a character on a television screen being watched by someone who couldn’t care less what happens to me next, because I am only on T.V. The line between television and reality is blurry and often distorted, I want to explain the connection, and illustrate the screen.
I am also working on a side project called “Synesthesia”. This is also a concept album based on the medical condition synesthesia. This condition is a connection between different senses in the brain. Someone might see different colors when they hear certain sounds, or associate certain images with emotions, and even individual personalities. The reason synesthesia interests me is because people with the condition are often looked down on and seen as a mentaly incapable. But really, I think it’s another way to look at the world. I read about a man who differentiates numbers by looking at them with separate personalities. The number 6 is shy, and doesn’t talk much. But the number 99 is loud and out going. He developed relationships with these numbers, and I think that’s a truly beautiful thing. Looking at the world through a lens of complex morality, and higher understanding. I think that even though this concept follows the condition more than anything, what it means to me is the acceptance of being different.
